The JI Impact Scholarship aims to prepare exceptional early-career scholars from Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) and Michigan Medicine to lead and transform collaborative medical education, research, and/or patient care between the two institutions.

The Impact Scholars will be appointed for one year with an option to renew for a second year. Working closely with U-M faculty mentors, Impact Scholars will engage in 1-2 projects that involve and advance collaboration between the two universities. The JI Impact Scholars must have completed a terminal degree (MD, PhD, etc.) and are affiliated with MM or PKUHSC where they will continue with their careers and collaborative projects.

While most of the program will be focused on specific projects of mutual interest to PKUHSC and Michigan Medicine, scholars will receive formal instruction on promoting collaboration as well as meeting criteria for advancement within their home institution (e.g., administrative, management, communication, grantsmanship skills, etc).  The scholarship will provide full stipend and benefits for the scholar, in accordance with the U-M International Center, along with some funding to be allocated for travel and research expenses.
